Tips to enjoy your trip as campsites reopen this summer
Campers across the nation will be thrilled to hear that campsites in the UK are reopening this summer. But with sites needing to be ‘COVID-secure’ before welcoming back guests, it’s likely that your outdoor adventure may look slightly different this year. That’s why we’ve put together these tips to help you get the most out of your long-awaited break.
Book early to avoid disappointment
With foreign holidays still looking uncertain, there’s likely to be a huge surge in people enjoying ‘staycations’ this summer. And although visitor numbers are set to be at an all-time high, the pitches available will be limited.
Social distancing rules will see tents spaced at least two meters apart and the number of guests will be controlled to avoid shared facilities becoming overcrowded. Larger sites may even need to provide visitors with set arrival times.
All this is going to make booking a spot in advance essential. Keep an eye on online booking systems or phone up your preferred site to secure your much-needed trip.
Take your own entertainment
Campsites that usually offer on-site activities will also look different. Close proximity venues, such as swimming pools and indoor play areas, will have to remain closed. So you’re going to have to get creative when it comes to keeping the kids entertained!
Make sure you pack plenty of games, take craft materials or try your hand at geocaching. After dark, go old-school by bringing a supply of logs to tell stories around the campfire. You can also become an amateur astronomer by downloading one of the many apps that help you track the constellations. After all that, don’t forget a bottle of wine (or two!) for yourself.
Cook your own meals
Even though pubs and restaurants will be open from the 4th of July, high demand and reduced capacity will make eating out much harder than usual. Avoid the booking stress altogether by taking plenty of portable Calor BBQ gas cylinders and cooking your own delicious alfresco meals!
