Home brewed beer: The perfect Christmas gift
Christmas is quickly approaching, and with it comes the dreaded task of finding presents for everyone. However, if you have a relative who loves nothing more than a cool glass of beer at the end of the day, we have the perfect gift idea for you: home-brewed beer!
If you want to make beer for your loved ones this Christmas, here are some of the things you need to consider.
The kit
To successfully brew beer, this is the kit you need:
- A brewing kettle
- Fermenter and airlock
- Sanitiser
- Siphon
- Stir spoon
- Ingredients (or beer recipe kit)
- Home brewing gas
Steps to brewing beer
1. Make your kit
To begin crafting your beer, you should begin by finding all of the above equipment. Fortunately, there are a number of companies that supply full beer brewing kits to make the process easier. However, not all of them come with home brewing gas, which is used to ensure that the finished product is still bubbly and crisp.
2. Cook the ingredients
Once you have all of the kit, you need to bring 2 litres of water to the boil and then add the beer ingredients according to the instructions. This mixture needs to be stirred and left for 10-15 minutes. Add this to four gallons of cold water and pour it into the fermenter.
3. Ferment
This process can take anywhere from eight to ten days, depending on the beer type. To begin the process, attach the funnel and transfer hose to your container. Strain the cooled mixture and add the yeast. Stir thoroughly and then seal the mix with the airlock. Store in a cool, dark place. You will know when the beer is ready when the yeast has settled at the bottom of the fermenter.
4. Bottle
The final step is to bottle the liquid you have made. You can either choose to put it in individual bottles or in a keg. Once you have done this, add the final ingredient: sugar. Seal the beer and leave for 8 to 15 weeks. And there you have it, the perfect Christmas present!
Ensure your beer is bubbly!
If you store your beer in a keg, you may worry that it will lose its bubbles. With our Home Brewing gas, you can ensure that your beer will be crisp and bubbly for the holiday season. Order today for fast delivery in the London area.
